South Plaquemines High School presents scary and creepy Read Night with spooky sports, how to get away with murder and the escape room on Monday, October 16, 2017 starting at 6:00 pm in the library and ending at 7:00 pm. All students and parents in attendance will receive free scholar points to use as needed. Reading books and materials will be sold at our scholastic book fair. See you Monday night.

SPHS will host an Assessment & Technology Night Wednesday, September 20th from 5:30 to 7pm.

Parents are encouraged to attend. LEAP 2025 scores are in! All students and parents will be able to collect their score report and hear more information about the LEAP 2025 test.

Our students and staff members can order Letterman Jackets on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in the school's cafeteria starting at 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm. To speed up the process, an order form and policy reference sheet linked to this post. Forms will also be available in the front office.

SPHS held its Surge Pass Back to School Bash. Over 130 Junior High Students were eligible to participate based on meeting school-wide behavior expectations. Every month there will be a different incentive to motivate the junior high students to be successful. This event was a success because of all the staff that pitched in to help out. This truly was a group effort.

Dear Parents,

As you know, a solar eclipse is going to occur on Monday, August 21st. Each of our schools have made plans to incorporate this event into their instructional day by designing lessons tied to the eclipse. Students will be able to watch this event safely inside classrooms.

Because we always put student safety first, no student will be allowed to view the eclipse outdoors. Students will not be allowed to view the eclipse with safety glasses that they may bring from home as we can’t guarantee that those glasses meet the safety specifications for viewing the eclipse.

Parents who may want to view the solar eclipse with their children may check them out of school between the hours of 11:00am – 12:00 noon. This will allow students to receive at least a half-day of instruction. We encourage all parents who choose to view the solar eclipse at home to take all of the necessary safety precautions. We also encourage parents who choose this option to make it a learning event by discussing the eclipse their children. South Plaquemines High School will host a mandatory student and parent meeting for all students who wish to play sports.  This is a mandatory meeting.  Your attendance is required if you are planning to participate in sports at South Plaquemines High School.  Parents and students must attend.  The meeting will be held on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 6:00 pm in the main gym.  If you have any questions, please contact the school at 504 595 6435.

Registration will be July 27- August 3 from 8:30am-1:30pm. Registration will end on Thursday, August 3rd to prepare for the opening of school. Registration will resume on Thursday, August 10th at 9:00am. Any questions regarding this please contact the school at 595-6435.
