Principal's Message

Dear Hurricane Parents and Students,

It is a privilege and an honor to have the opportunity to lead South Plaquemines High School, a school with such a rich history in academics, athletics, and community perseverance. At South Plaquemines High School, our mission is to provide high quality educational opportunities to all students while creating an environment that emphasizes character, academics, values, and leadership.

Here at South Plaquemines High School, the teachers, staff, and administration are committed to meeting the needs and interests of all students by providing them with high quality education and relevant extra-curricular opportunities. South Plaquemines High School is proud to offer challenging academic courses, art-based programs, various clubs, and an outstanding athletic program. Our teachers and staff are committed to fostering a respectful environment in which students are afforded the opportunity to succeed academically and become well-rounded individuals.

As your principal, I challenge every student to take full advantage of all that is offered so that you can make your high school life successful, enjoyable, and most importantly meaningful. Although all students are on a different path in life, I truly believe that the students on our campus have the ability to accomplish great things!

Beginning with the first days of school, I challenge each of you to develop, display, and hone in on the strong HURRICANE FORCE that lies within you. It is that HURRICANE PRIDE that will help lay the foundation for your success at SPHS and your future.

A crucial part of success for students is attendance. As a parent or guardian, it is important for you to maintain an attitude that “EVERY DAY COUNTS”. It is important for students to be present daily, to be on time, and to be ready to learn. Parents and guardians play an important role in student success, and I invite each of you to collaborate with us regarding your student’s education.

We welcome you and look forward to a great school year!!
