Graduation Dress Code
SPHS Graduation Dress Code:
How To Dress for Graduation (under the gown):
- Men wear black trousers, a white dress shirt, and a black tie under their gowns with black dress shoes.
- Women wear any color dress as long as it is not visible under the gown with black dress shoes. Women gowns should have the white collar worn. Women should wear black flats.
- You are to be school dress code complaint in all other areas outside of clothes worn.
How to Wear a Graduation Cap: The high school graduation cap is worn flat on the head (parallel to the floor), one point of the square facing forward (like a diamond). Check the inside of the cap for correct positioning.
- NOTE: Students may NOT decorate the top of their cap. You will not be allowed to participate in graduation if your cap is decorated.
High school graduation tassel: Tassels are worn on the right side at the start of the graduation ceremony, and you flip it to the left when graduates receive their diplomas.
(If receiving this distinction) Honor Cords – How To Wear: The middle knot is put behind your neck. Bring the honor cords to the front, hanging down your sides with two tassels on each side.
Class Stole & (If receiving this distinction) Honor Stoles – How To Wear: Hang the honor stole seam centered on the back of your neck, draping down your front to about your waist.
- For layering of honors around your neck in order:
- cords (For Val/Sal – medal)
- stoles
- collar stoles
