Prom Guidelines

Guidelines:

  • General Information:
    • Prom Date: April 9, 2020
    • Location: Royal Palm
    • Prom Dues
      • Deposit due on or before October 21st ($50)
      • Final Payment due on or before December 2nd ($50)
      • Dues are nonrefundable.
      • ALL JUNIORS AND SENIORS MUST PAY BY THIS DATE OR WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO ATTEND PROM.
    • Time: 7:00 PM-11:00 PM
  • Prom Date
    • Student MUST be in grades 9-12. No attendees over the age of 21.
    • If the date does not attend SPHS, an information form MUST be filled out and returned by April 1st. You must arrive with said date for them to enter.
    • ALL SPHS Juniors or Seniors who attend prom must pay prom dues.
  • Dress Code
    • Men:
      • This is a Black Tie Affair and students should dress appropriately
      • A Suit or Tuxedo is required
      • Dress Shoes are Required (No Tennis Shoes)
    • Women: ALL DRESSES MUST BE APPROVED PRIOR TO PURCHASE BY MS. HYMES. SEE HER AT LUNCH FOR APPROVAL.
      • Length of Dress: Finger-tip length- The dress needs to be long enough that if the student’s arms are at her side the finger tips are touching fabric
      • Slit of Dress: Finger-tip length- The slit needs to be low enough that if the student’s arms are at her side the finger tips are touching fabric
      • NO BARE SKIN CUT OUTS of any kind are allowed on the dress. Cut outs must be covered with a mesh or see through material
      • Backless Dresses or V cut backs are NOT to go below the waist line or enter the curve of the bottom
      • The V Cut on the front of a dress should NOT extend below the crest
    • Timeframe
      • Prom will be held from 7-11pm
      • Students will arrive from 7:00 to 7:30pm. All attendees will be administered a Breathalyzer.
      • The doors will be closed and students will not be allowed to enter after 7:30pm.
      • Senior walk will be from 8:00 to 8:30.
      • Students will NOT be allowed to leave until 10:50.
      • Students are not allowed to leave and Re-enter Prom for ANY REASON

 

 

  • Pictures
    • Information on Picture Packages will be provided before Prom
    • It is the students responsible to manage their time and get their picture taken at some point during prom
  • Dancing
    • Dancing needs to be appropriate for a school function
    • If dancing is deemed inappropriate by any chaperone the student will be asked to exit the dance floor
  • Senior Walk
    • Seniors will complete a Senior Walk form and turn it in by April 6th. No form = Not walking. There will be no changes on the day of prom.
    • If a Senior is late for the Senior Walk, they will be placed at the end of the line.
    • Parents are invited to attend the senior walk.
    • We ask that parents dress appropriately and stay in their designated area.
    • Parents must leave following the senior walk to allow the students to enjoy their prom
  • Chaperone
    • Will be the Teachers and administrators
  • Prom Queen and King
    • Nomination:
      • Senior girls who are attending Prom will have their names in a hat
      • Five names will be picked out
      • Those students will be the Prom court and up for prom Queen
      • The Same system will apply for Prom King
    • Voting
      • As students enter Prom they will receive a ballot with the nominees selected
      • Students will circle one for Prom King and one for Prom Queen.
      • Only SPHS Juniors and Seniors are allowed to vote
      • The Nominee with the most votes wins
    • Party Favors
      • Students will receive favors chosen by the student prom committee
